#TEAMBLADETECH Red Bull Ice Cross - 2020 Season Recap

Bladetech Hockey wants to congratulate all members of #TEAMBLADETECH ICE CROSS for an outstanding 2020 season! These incredible athletes work extremely hard for a short season, and many of them participate on the tour on their own dime!  Thank you for being a great ambassador of Bladetech and we’re so happy to continue to support you into 2021!

Here is a recap of how each #TEAMBLADETECH member did this season:

CHAMPIONS – Cameron Naasz and Jacqueline Legere

It’s not all about winning, but it sure is great when it happens!  Cam and Jacqueline both had outstanding seasons and took home their 4th and 3rd Tour Championships respectively.  They’ve got something figured out and their names have become synonymous with winning on the Ice Cross tour.  Bladetech is happy to help these championship athletes perform at the highest level.  Congratulations!

Myriam Trepanier – final rank 4

The highest ranked non-champion on #TEAMBLADETECH, Myriam was consistently pushing the top 3 skaters in the women’s circuit this season. Trep’s power and skill kept Jacqueline and other top skaters on their toes and consistently looking behind them.  Trep’s season included an amazing 2nd place finish in her home province of Quebec.  She’ll definitely be pushing for her end-of-year podium party next season! Congrats Trep!

Tam and Sam Meuwissen – final rank 8 and 15

The dynamic duo on the RBIC tour, #TEAMBLADETECH’s first and only set of twin teammates rocked the tour this season with their small but impactful frames, pushing out tons of power on every turn.  Tam had a 3rd place finish in Mont du Lac and Sam 5th.  The twinning team always competes with smiles on their faces and fire in their guts which make them super fun to watch! Congrats on another great season Sam and Tam!

Kale Johnstone – final rank 28

Kale continues to improve and setting personal best finishes, including a 9th place finish at Mont du Lac this year.  Not only did Kale improve in strides this season, but his silky-smooth flow, incredible handle-bar stache and custom Bladetech blades made him one of the smoothest guys on tour!  As many of you know, Kale is the OG member of #TEAMBLADETECH and we congratulate him on a personal best 28th rank this season! Excited to see what you have in store for us in 2021!

Andrew Swanson – final rank 32

In Andrew’s second season with #TEAMBLADETECH he made some noise in challenging the top 30 racers this year. Andrew’s season included a 27th place finish in the very tough Yokohama Japan race where he got sandwiched out of the race! Real tough break, but in true #TEAMBLADETECH fashion, Andrew kept fighting until the last race of the season.

Kirk Thornton – final rank 42

Kirk, the most stylish member of #TEAMBLADETECH, had a solid season but was hit with some crazy bad luck on a couple of races.  Questionable calls and some unlucky draws left Kirk lower in the rankings, definitely not a reflection of his skills and work ethic.  Either way, he still looks friggin fly with his neon green suit and matching Baldetech blades!

Nick Croal – final rank 126

Nick, new to #TEAMBLADETECH this season, was off to a great start, but a broken ankle during time trials in France cut his season short.  While we didn’t get to see Nick’s potential this season, we wish him a very speedy recovery and look forward to an unreal comeback season in 2021!

Francis Boudreau – final rank 137

Francis was only able to participate in a few races this season as he was promoted to the Men’s tour this season.  He did celebrate a 2nd place finish in Memramcook NB this season and continues to learn how to navigate the very difficult Men’s division.  Congratulations on a great first Men’s season, Francis!
