The hybrid concept addresses a longstanding challenge in fitting players who have the foot morphology that suits the Vizion (moderate volume, adaptive thermoform fit) but the skating demands that have historically pushed them toward the FT9 (maximum rigidity, speed-first construction). The FT9 Vizion Hybrid Speed builds the FT9's outsole, holder system, and boot stiffness into a package that can be heat-molded to match individual foot shape.

This is a more significant engineering achievement than it sounds. High-stiffness composite boots typically compromise their structural integrity through thermoforming — the heat treatment needed to mold the boot softens the carbon fiber matrix. CCM's updated composite formulation maintains stiffness through the baking process, delivering both the adaptive fit of the Vizion and the performance of the FT9.

The hybrid model comes at a premium, but for elite players who have historically had to compromise between fit and performance, it resolves a genuine equipment gap.

The blade system on both models has also been updated. CCM's new SB 4.0 holder provides a lower center point and improved blade release angle compared to the previous generation.
